I decided to create my own updated Super Friends cartoon. Each costume represents either an update or just my personal preference. The reasons for my design choices are shown along with each individual character design.

Superman has been getting a lot of attention lately in the costume department. The big move being made in comics and on the big screen are the absence of the red shorts. The best updates I’ve seen have given him a darker blue for pants, so I’ve included that in my redesign.

For Batman, I imagined what would’ve happened if the original Michael Keaton suit had been translated to animation. I don’t have a problem with the gray and blue suit, just thought it would be a fun change.

For Robin, I decided to take a step back toward his original suit. I wanted it to be different, but still look like the 1940’s Robin. The color scheme is more earthy (brown instead of bright red). This suit also shows the Robin Hood imagery that was originally intended for the character.

Green Lantern has a suit that’s more like armor than tights. I think that seems like a good change. I also made the mask more like green goggles.

For Flash, I didn’t make many changes. I decided to leave the eyes of the mask black (like lenses). I think the blur effect is pretty nice, too.
